Worked immediately,
I purchased this cable after two days of troubleshooting an apparently defective Sabrent SBT-UPPC USB to Parallel 6-Foot Printer Cable. The Dynex cable worked right out of the box. Note that regardless of cable manufacturer, you have to follow the instructions carefully to initiate USB printer support in your operating system before trying to install the printer itself.

|Windows 7 + HP LaserJet 2100 Work!,
It was a bit of a pain, but it worked!
The driver CD was useless. It only contained Win98 & ME. I just plugged the converter in, and Windows 7 loaded the drivers during plug & play. Windows didn’t see my printer at that point. When I tried to add a printer, Windows 7 didn’t have my printer driver. In the add printer dialog, click the Windows Update button. It took a long time, but eventually it displayed three drivers for the HP LaserJet 2100. PCL6 was generically recommended by HP, so that is what I used. (HP seems to have released a generic driver that supports many different legacy printer models.) It worked!
The vendor documentation is nearly non-existent.
Dynex is Best Buy. I actually bought it in the store, but they were no help. Your reviews were much more helpful! I hope my feedback helps you!
Note: There were a lot of open box items in the store. It isn’t clear if there are lots of compatibility problems or if people just get frustrated. This is NOT as simple as buying a new printer, but it was just a few steps.

|Worked immediately,
The usb port on my Brother HL-5250DN Refurbished Network Ready Laser Printer with Duplex went bad after being bumped hard. It seemed like everything else still worked. I bought the exact same printer because it worked so well for me. I kept hoping to resurrect the broken one. With a pending move I have a need for a second printer. Before buying yet another printer I thought I would give this cable a try. I plugged it into my Mac Mini 2.26 Ghz Intel core 2 duo running Mac OS X version 10.6.3 and it worked immediately… no drivers needed!
